Smokey Spiced Holiday Old Fashioned

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup water

½ Cup Granulated Sugar

½ cup light brown sugar

½ tsp whole cloves

½ tsp nutmeg

½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp allspice

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1 slice navel orange (about 1/3” thick)

2 oz of your favorite Bourbon

½ oz Spiced Simple Syrup (See Recipe Below)

3-4 drops of Angostura Bitters

Ice

BARREL PROOF Bourbon Dust

BARREL PROOF Smoke Ring

Pastry/Kitchen Crème Brulee Torch

 

GARNISH (optional)

1 Maraschino or Luxardo Cherry

Orange Peel

Rosemary Sprig

 

To a Rocks Glass, add a Slice of Orange and Muddle

Add Spiced Simple Syrup

Add Bourbon

Add Bitters

Add Ice

Stir

Center Smoke Ring on top of your glass

Add a large pinch of Bourbon Dust

Light the Bourbon Dust with Torch holding flame to dust for about 5 seconds.

Let sit for about 10 seconds.

Swirl drink holding Smoke Ring in place.

Remove Smoke Ring

Add Garnish (optional)

Allow smoke to dissipate.

Enjoy!!

Directions for Simple Syrup

Add the water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cloves, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon to a small saucepan.

Heat over Medium High stirring occasionally until mixture begins to boil and sugars are completely dissolved.

Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 15 minutes.

Pour syrup through fine mesh sieve/strainer to remove any excess sediment and spices.

Pour Spiced Simple Syrup into a tall jar using a funnel to fill. Seal the jar. Spiced Simple Syrup can be stored in the refrigerator.
